Week 1: Finding A Voice For Hank...

We got off to a flying start today. The children arrived carrying Goldie and ? into the space to meet the students from Interact. We sat in a circle and introduced ourselves to each other and tried to find a name for our new puppet friend. Renato came up with the great idea of calling the worm/snake Hank. Then we watched a slideshow of different puppets with a focus on them being different sizes and and different styles. There were famous puppets like Pinocchio and Kermit the frog, as well as giant puppets that were bigger than houses. The colourful ones were exciting. We then got into groups and drew each others outlines so that we could turn ourselves into puppets. Toby and Ryan ended up with dots all over them (it looked like the puppets had chickenpox). Ada drew flowers on her skirt. Sometimes people got different shaped heads which looked funny. Everyone had their photo taken in a puppet pose. We sang a few songs in search of the anthem for our project and the ELC sang a goodbye song, while Renato played us out with the Sound of Music's "So long Farewell".

  1. I am happy to see that the group has been established and that all participants were engaged in the process of making the large puppets.
Leonie's slide show looked interesting. Would love to see it sometime.

I like the name HANK and look forward to be being involved. I'll be joining the session on Thursday 12 March.
